FAQs

FAQs about Katherine Arandez

Do you believe in fate?

Yes... but only as a concept, not as a being like Fate from The Kervanian Chronicles.

Where can I write to you?

You can write me through the contact form here on the website.

When did you first know that you wanted to be a writer?

Books have been my passion for as long as I can remember. I'm not exactly sure when the idea to write one of my own first crossed my mind, but I think I was around 10 years old.

How long does it take you to write a book?

I'm not really sure. It took me almost two years to finish "Weaver", but I wrote "BMF Smuggler" in just a little more than a month. I think it took so much longer to finish "Weaver" because I was still in the early stages of creating not only the story for that book, but also the concept for the entire "Kervanian Chronicles" series. Now that I have all my Dragons in a row with the Kervanian universe, I imagine it would take me about 2-3 months to write another book.

What are your favourite books?

I love Tamora Pierce's work, especially the "Protector of the Small" quartet.

What's your favourite music?

I like classical music, especially Mozart. It helps me a lot with my creative process.

What are your favourite films?

I am such a movie buff! All of the Lord of the Rings, all of the Star Wars movies, The Avengers, Thor, Devour, Plunkett and Macleane, the Twilight saga, the Hunger Games, Harry Potter... I could go on forever.

How do you get the ideas and characters for your books?

They just come to me. Usually, I'll get an idea for a book from a dream, or just while thinking. Then I'll start elaborating upon the idea, and inventing characters as I go along.

What's your favorite way to relax (other than writing)?

Roller Blading

Do any of your characters resemble you?

Yes, I worked my personality traits and some of my quirks into almost all of my characters.

How do you feel about fanworks: fanart and fanfiction of your work?

I'm definitely a fan of them :) I especially love it when my fans share their art and/or stories with me! If you send me your story or artwork, I will post it to a special Fanworks page here on my website.

Do you always know the whole story, including the ending, when you begin?

No, I usually envision the beginning, and a few major events, and make the rest up as I go along.
